  • What date is the Paws for a Cause 2021 event?

    Paws for a Cause 2021, proudly supported by, will take place during National Carers Week, Monday 7th to Sunday 13th June. You can walk with your dog and if you don’t have one, join us anyway! However if you want to walk at any stage during June, feel free to do so.

  • Who is the Paws partner?

    Family Carers Ireland are delighted to have partnered with the team at Buy4Pets Online is proud to be 100% Irish-owned and locally operated. The sister-brand of the popular bricks and mortar pet store, Pet Stop Discount Warehouse, with shop locations across the west of Ireland, you can now buy all you need on their shiny new website with nationwide delivery.

  • How will the event take place this year?

    Due to social distancing requirements, we are asking the people of Ireland to walk 24k over the 7 days of National Carers Week within the current Government guidelines. Or of course, you can walk on your own. It’s up to you!

  • How much does it cost?

    Registration is only €20. With this you will receive an event exclusive 30% off discount on Skechers! You will also receive a voucher for our event partner, and 20% off B&B bookings with the Neville Hotel Group!

    If you would like to buy a branded t-shirt, which would mean so much to us, these will cost an extra €10. Please note!!!!! T-shirts are only available in size Large.

    For just an extra €5, you can buy a very cute doggy bandana!

    This is simply to cover our costs for the merchandise. Please note you will receive your tee and/or bandana before the start date of the campaign, with all merchandise being posted to you between Thursday 27th May and Thursday 3rd June.

  • Where does my registration and fundraising money go?

    Funds raised through donations and fundraising for the Paws for a Cause campaign will go into our National Crisis Fund, which is supporting families most affected by Covid-19, during the pandemic and beyond. Supports range from emergency respite, counselling and emotional support to one-to-one well-being reviews, as well as the purchase of practical support items including hoists, wheelchairs and, in some particularly difficult cases, putting food on tables and oil in heating tanks.

    The organisation has achieved the Charities Institute Ireland ‘Triple Lock Standard’ of best practice by signing up to the new Governance Code, adopting best practice reporting by adopting the Charity SORP (FRS 102) - Statement of Recommended Practice and adhering to the CRA Guidelines on Fundraising along with adhering to the CRA Internal Financial Control Guidelines for Charities.

  • In addition to the registration fee, how can I fundraise?

    We are super happy to tell you that you can now fundraise on Facebook for Family Carers Ireland which means it’s an easy way for you to get involved and raise money! Simply visit and it will do all the work for you.

    Family Carers Ireland are registered for both platforms above. Simply search for us and you can set it up from there.

  • How can I send in sponsorship money I’ve collected offline?

    There are lots of secure ways for you to send us the money you have raised for us. Pick the one that is easiest for you and if you have any further queries, simply pop us an email to or Freephone our Careline on 1800 24 07 24.

  • Telling your peeps about Paws:

    You can share our social media posts and send it to your family and friends to let them know you are supporting family carers in communities all over Ireland and would like their support. You can also change your Facebook cover pic too to our funky Paws for a Cause event by emailing and requesting same!

  • How do I track my distance each day?

    You can download a pedometer app onto your phone or use your FitBit or fitness wearable. Go into the App Store or Google Play Store and search “pedometer”. Or you can go old school and simply go for an un-tracked walk!

  • What if I can’t walk the 24k over 7 days?

    Don’t worry. You can walk when you want to walk, even if it takes you the month of June to do it. We just want everyone to walk in solidarity with family carers, even if it’s a gentle stroll whilst having a chin wag. Of course you can also run 24k every day for 7 days depending on your fitness. It really is up to each individual. We’re just grateful you want to take part.

  • Can I donate to Paws for a Cause without fundraising?

    You sure can! Simply click here and you’ll be brought to our secure online donations hub. Alternatively, if you know someone who has set up a Facebook fundraiser, you can donate on their Facebook page.

  • My company wants to get involved, who should I contact?

    We are encouraging as many as possible to get involved so if you can get your work team and colleagues engaging with our event, we’d be thrilled!  You register as normal but you can create your own fun and challenges during the week.

    Family Carers Ireland will be running a Pooch Booth during the event where participants can share pics from their daily walks using the hashtags #pawsforacause and #poochbooth on social media. This is where you can get creative and win yourself a FREE PAIR OF SKECHERS RUNNERS!
